Smoovie, an app that made its debut in 2010, is the main topic of this week’s screencast. We are going to take a look at this stop motion creation app – primarily designed for children and kids. It can be used from “3 year olds to 103 year olds” according to Smoovie‘s website.
I’ve personally talked with the developers about the design ideas they had. You would think preferences and other “useful” stuff is handy for everyone, but they intentionally left them out, because they would be too confusing for their target audience.
Last but not least, Smoovie can be repurposed as time lapse recording app when using a little AppleScript and Automator. (I love this part, by the way, because this way I basically get a $30 stop motion app plus another app, which can usually be purchased for $80 up.)
Download the time lapse AppleScript.
